Last night I was in Arnprior to do a presentation to the Upper Valley chapter of Muskies Canada. The topic of the night was the new Lowrance HDS units and StructureScan. The members enjoyed seeing the features and a few can’t wait to get out on the water with their new units to try some of the tips I provided.

Next tournament is the PWT in the Soo. It is going to be fun as it offers every type of water that may hold walleye. I will be updating my blog while I travel, pre-fish and during the tourney. Below is a description of the tourney from the PWT site. You can follow the action at WalleyeFIRST by going here.
PWT Optima/Berkley Pro-Am September 11-13, 2008 • Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
Pick a spot and catch a fish: Main shipping channels, rivers, lakes, back bays, weed beds, rocky structure, current breaks, bridges all come into play on the St. Mary’s River. Pros have a knack for showing their daily amateur/co-angler partners even more spots and methods than they ever imagined.

The PWT Super Pro CAN-AM event is quickly approaching and I will be spending the next few days packing and getting everything ready to compete for Team Canada.
I will be reporting daily on this blog while we drive 20+ hours up to Dryden. I will also report back each day on the fishing etc. right here on this blog. So far the early reports out of Dryden are the ‘Fish are Biting’. This is going to be a great tournament as we are forced to figure out new ways to get walleye to take artificial baits.
Tournament Coverage
You will be able to get live weigh-in information, images and videos of the PWT Can-Am in Dryden on Aug 13th to 15th from WalleyeFIRST website. PWT Super Pro Can-Am Coverage

Another get-together has come and gone, we had a few new anglers out for a fish on Mississippi Lake and many of the regulars from the last outing. A few boats had nice walleye to weigh in at the end of the evening and a few went home empty handed – but that is walleye fishing. Seems like walleye had taken most every bait, from slow death plastics, spinners and crawlers to trolling crank-baits.
The next ORWL outing is planned for the evening of Wednesday August 20th.

This is open to anyone with or without a boat that wants to get out and fish walleye or has an interest in walleye fishing. The idea started to promote, support and generate interest in walleye fishing in the Ottawa region during the summer months when the fishing is amazing. The region is littered with bass clubs and tournament organizations for bass, therefore a little walleye group was in desperate need.
We have set the dates for the remaining get-together. All will take place on Mississippi Lake out of the 9A Grass Hopper Point and/or the Carleton Place Town launch. We will also plan some winter gatherings to talk walleye fishing and maybe an ice fishing outing or two.

What a great weekend as i got to fish a walleye tourney with my six year old son. The weather was great on Sunday we had a very fun day out on the water. I let my son control the boat all day and he did a great job on the bow trolling motor and kept us on structure. If you ever get a chance to fish one of these tournaments – just do it. You will never forget the memories.
I would like to thank Chris Hockley, the organizers, volunteers and all the sponsor for holding this event in Southern Ontario and I hope to see them all again next season.

The main objective of Angler Young Angler Tournaments is to introduce and educate young anglers to competitive sport fishing in a fun environment surrounded by family and friends while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
New location for 2008 is Lindsay Ontario. I will be fishing this event as I am a huge supporter of children and fishing. This is a great way to introduce our next generation of tournament walleye anglers to the fun and sport of tourney fishing.
Location: Lindsay, Ontario – Sturgeon Lake/Rivera Park
Date: May 25, 2008
Fishing Times: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
